Community & Us
We believe that, true success is a measure of significant and positive impact on the lives of people than profits. Hence, giving back and community involvement has become an integral part of our ethical and environmentally friendly business. From community work to disaster relief, Ceciliyan Tea is engrained in the local community.
Statistics reveal that the income of around 10% of Sri Lanka’s population is either directly or indirectly connected to the tea industry. A measure of our success is reflected in sustaining livelihoods of more than 6,500 tea smallholders.
By eco-friendly environmental policies, we helped sustain the micro-climate and the fragile, unique eco-system of the Sinharaja Biosphere Reserve.
We partnered a few multinationals to uplift basic health and sanitation facilities of the Kalawana Base Hospital.
Families affected by floods due to torrential rain in May 2018 were somewhat relieved by our contribution of dry rations of essential food items and household effects. Our labour force enthusiastically cleaned wells contaminated by floods. Ceciliyan also co-ordinated with M/S Forbes & Walker to fix mobile toilets in relief camps, thus preventing the outbreak of epidemics.
We were happy to donate cooking utensils to over 110 families in Ranaviru Village affected by a terrible blaze.
