Quality Standards & Certifications
All tea produced in Sri Lanka is required to conform to ISO 3720 standards. In addition, Sri Lanka also complies with international conventions and agreements on the environment, including the Montreal Protocol. We at Ceciliyan maintain globally accepted standards in terms of food safety management and Occupational Safety & Health (OSH). Ceciliyan Estate’s Tea also conforms to stringent standards set by the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka. In addition, we have earned the following certifications.
The only exception is The Rainforest Alliance Certified seal approval, which is in the offing.
ISO 22000:2005 Certification
It covers the management systems standard, applicable to any institution in the food chain, incorporating HACCP principles. HACCP addresses food safety hazards by analysis and control of processes through-out the value chain, from processing of raw material to the finished product.
ETP-Ethical Tea Partnership
The Ethical Tea Partnership is an international non-profit organization by membership. Working with the tea industry world-wide, it strives to solve environmental issues, and better the social conditions in the supply chains. We in the ETP-Sri Lankan chapter are committed to sustainable production, good working conditions and preserving the environment.
ISO 14000 Certification
It is a grouping of standards relevant to the environment; meant to help organizations establish effective environmental management and eco-friendly practices. Our tea is ozone-friendly, as at no stage is it exposed to ozone-layer-depleting chemicals, thus conforming to The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
